HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Range Finder
The HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Range Finder is a widely-used sensor for measuring distance and detecting objects, commonly found in various applications. This sensor uses sonar technology to determine the distance to an object, similar to how bats and dolphins navigate.
The module features two "eyes" on its front, which serve as the ultrasonic transmitter and receiver. This sensor integrates a transmitter, receiver, and control circuit in a compact, easy-to-use package. It provides accurate and stable readings unaffected by sunlight or dark materials, though it may struggle with acoustically soft materials like cloth.
- Measurement Range: 2cm to 400cm
- Accuracy: Up to 3mm
- Compact Design: Combines transmitter, receiver, and control circuit
- Stable Readings: Not affected by sunlight or black materials
- VCC: +5V (positive)
- Trig: Control signal input
- Echo: Output signal (high when wave is detected)
- GND: Ground (negative)
- Trigger Pulse: Send a 10µs pulse to the Trig pin.
- Echo Pulse: The sensor sends out an 8-cycle burst of ultrasound and listens for the echo. The Echo pin goes high for the duration of the time taken for the wave to travel to the object and back.
- Distance Calculation: The distance can be calculated using the time the Echo pin stays high.
